Well, here I go again! After playing music with the likes of Andy Rhodes back in the day as fellow band mate in Grand Marshall, I just had to do it again. Not only did these guys need some keyboard to balance out their guitars, they needed somebody with some hair. And it’s great! (not the hair, the music)! These folks are pros through and through and not a prima donna in the bunch (in the world of performers, that’s a miracle in itself). They make an ongoing commitment to music, sound and light quality. I couldn’t be happier to be part of a band that opens for the likes of Edgar Winter! Mary is better than ever (she should be crowned the Midwest’s Finest Rock Goddess!), playing with drummer Travis is better than I anticipated from a young beef-eating smart aleck and John K and Mike B are just plain great musicians. What is so refreshing about Loose Neutral is that it’s an ensemble band and every player has serious chops. Oh, and I can’t say I mind playing through some of the best sound equipment touring the area!
I’ve been playing since I was 9 and was classically trained, but eventually branched out into other genres. I served as pianist for Iowa Jazz and Iowa Blues Hall of Famer Joanne Jackson for some years, wrote the score for a full-length musical with my wife as librettist, spent five years music directing, writing and arranging music for a troupe of dinner theatre performers known as Sugar Grove Players, perform my originals regularly at various venues, play jazz with various combos from time to time and drink as much Maker’s Mark on the rocks as my constitution can handle (let’s just say I stay sober most of the time!). Oh, and here’s a few of the groups I’ve played in over the years: Breakthru, Grand Marshall, T-Bone Blues Revue, Joanne Jackson Jazz Quartet, Blues Inc., The Grange Cats, Gary Gibson Group, Scott Davis et al…
I want to thank my wife, who cowrites my songs, helps me get gigs, and lets me play the kind of music I want to play!
